There are many things you can do to help circus animals and promote public safety.
1. SKIP THE CIRCUS WHEN IT COMES TO TOWN! The circus will be coming on a weekday when school is in session, so skipping it won't be a hardship what with after school activities and homework. Numerous kids have chosen not to support the circus, so your child will be in good company. In fact many kids have, on their own, created petitions against the circus coming to town.
2. Wear a "Be Kind to Elephants/Skip the Circus" garment. We now have a variety of cloting options available for purchase through Cafe Press. http://www.cafepress.com/skipthecircus
3. In some towns, Kelly Miller Circus has sent clowns to the schools to drum up customers. We do not think the circus has any place in our kids' school day. Teachers are already overloaded with state testing requirements and other important content-we do not need teachers taking precious instructional time promoting an inhumane form of entertainment.
4. Support non-animal circuses. There are many wonderful family circuses that do not harm animals or pose a threat to attendees, the most well-known, of course, is the Cirque du Soleil. Here is a list with links to some lesser known animal-free circuses. |
